Cassette Recorder Player

Hi!
I started doing this "Cassette Recorder Player", but do not think I would succeed before Christmas.
The idea came to me from the aviadderi1's topic - for that I thank.
The schematic with which I started it is Aliasant's;

I wish as functionality to be accurate as the real, of course if can. And your opinion.

Maxell's "Metal" was my favorite cassetes for Heavy Metal! How about use image like this:

Dammit, I was just halfway through suggesting a 'tape tagliatelle' function when your post came in! I still have some old tapes somewhere complete with creases and splices from trying to rescue my treasured favourites from a sticky pinch roller!
One of your random LFO's would make a great wow-and-flutter modulator.

Suggestion: different cassettes had different frequency ranges, as did different Dobly schemes.

Wow & flutter was only semi-random, more like 10-30%

Yeahh! Tape recorders (esp. big reel-to-reel ) are great stuff for sound experiments.
Tape material, transport effects, head position...
Well I remember effect (don't know exact English words) when old record was not fully erasure,
and you can hear mystic sound between songs. I think it's not simple negative amplification,
rather kinda of compression (?)

Well knobs for wow-flutter effect already here! Just a minimum dsp..
and erasure (with degree 0-100%) will be very cool!

The tape animations look excellent - especially like the way the tape moves from one reel to the other.

I made a 'mechanical' display like your tape counter a while ago, with animated 'flipping' digits - will need a couple of digits removing, and maybe new .png's, but should be fairly simple to adapt. You can find the original .osm HERE.

Pall... That's really cool. I figured you were still at it. I messed with the Cassette graphic thing also. It's now over at this post. It made more sense as an example for loop points.

I love how the "loading" dialog is right on the tape label. Perfect!
I have always loved cassette tapes and myself have a pretty decent collection of cassette recorders/players. I notice you don't have the "record" function built into to this thing yet. When you do: please, please, please make it have that ghastly distorted compression that onboard mics of these things always seem to have. One loud SPLAT of distortion on the first attack, then soul crushing compression from there on out. Ahhhh!

@ Trog - Your counter is very very nice, but should be smaller in size. From what I remember,
these counters have three digits but I not remember the maximum value displayed.
I made a small change to look smaller, but must be a different front panel (png), hat I think I can make it. But the bigger problem is that (from what I've noticed) that at higher speed - to fast running - the slide effect disappears for the other digits. There can be one slide for each digit ? Or it takes more cpu?
Another major problem is that there must be a strong correlation between the counter, cassette animation and playing music (wav).

Anyone is free to make changes.

Hey Pall, bored again?
Fantastic job, I like how the Start and Stop functions set in with a sweep. Also Fast Forward and Rewind are so cute, exactly how those devices used to work. Well done!
Suggestions for improvement: I think the SVF is not the best choice for the tone control. Perhaps a cheap 1-pole LP would be more like it? Also the speaker would probably not go below 200 Hz nor above 5 kHz, so maybe one could include a bandpass as a property at the end of the signal chain? And maybe a mono option? I could provide the components but I am hesitant to directly integrate them because I do not want to spoil your beautiful design.
Oh, and please, please add a button to reset the counter!

Boys, as I mentioned before, you can make changes in the schematic, and I will do design (the graphics)
But I would like to correspond with the real functionality.
I would be glad to do this thing for all of us.

@ Trog - Your counter...

The counter will handle a raw float value without needing the 'Slide' - the fractional part of the float will then drive the animation frames.
Here's a quick bodge of the schematic - I just sped up the timer, and then divided it down to get some in-between frames. I also tweaked the settings a little to get it the flipping digits to look a little more like the real thing.

BTW) IIRC, the real counters usually go up to 999 then wrap around back to zero, so a simple %1000 should make it work OK even for higher numbers.
