IMHO, I'd skip to 5; the GUI editor is better & faster, there will be a Live-Max5 soon, & VST export soon after that. I'd think 4 will be not updated soon if not already.
Need help? First search the forum & WiKi, then post in the help forum with a clear topic, request, & OSM. Then please WiKi the correct solution. If you want my personal assistance, I charge by the hour or for an exchange of services.

I'll only get 4 if it comes with 5. Just waiting for America to wake up.

OK , I picked up Max5 and Jitter, 4 comes with 5. Just looking through the pluggies in Pluggo, I hope I can get them to load up so they're editable. If I make anything useful I will share with you electrogear, but it sounds like I need more help than you :) .
Cheers

I would love to see some of your work, and likewise I can send you some stuff I've done if you like? I made a pretty neat drum sampler last year in Max 4. I'm lucky to have a Max expert at Uni but it's always good to have a fresh perspective, I'm sure you will probably pick it up faster than me anyway, I'm not the fastest learner. :-)

Thanks,

Mike

Bought the full version with jitter yesterday.

I asked them about pluggo (the vst export software) and they have said they can't give a time line as to when it will be updated for Max 5, and they can't give me a student discount on it. Bit disappointing, but I can see why - I guess they don't want students being able to make commercial plugs on the cheap...

so, looks like another $200 on top of the $250 I have just spent, plus I took the whole family out for tea yesterday as it was mothers day. Not a cheap day!!!

Sorry for the late reply. I'll let you know if I come up with anything interesting. If you have any projects I might be able to help with let me know if ya wanna, ie. graphic stuff.
SM is kinda keeping me busy, but I hope to get the use out of Max. Hoping for the Pluggo update likewise, thanks for the heads up. Maybe a Mac version of my current project is on the way if I can do it, I'll need all the help I can get.
Much regards :)

Lack of Pluggo5 is keeping me from looking at Max, though Bidule is looking good now:

Pluggo 5 is not coming. They have said it wouldn't be cost-effective to support three different plug-in specifications on two different platforms. Great >:(

Should have waited...

There used to be an option some years back but I forgot what its name was.
I bought the thing early but after just a couple of months the guy developing it gave up and released it as open source.

Hmm =(. It had some real potential and even a great IR reader. Very fast but I think developing something like that on your own is just not feasible. I tried to find the open source project but since I cant remember the freakin name its hard.

Anyone else remembering it?

Yes ! ! Thats the one. Is it possible in a open project like this to find the code he used for his convolution primitive?
