preset manager and loading times

What defines the speed of preset loading? What are the practical limitations (like number of programs or filesize)? Does the amount of programs inside one preset file ("all programs") slows down preset loading signifficantly, or maybe there is only one big delay, no matter whether loading one or all programs?

It depends on the amount of text in the preset file. If you got many controls, long text or long arrays it will slow down preset loading. Having a lot of presets will also slow down VST/EXE loading.

One program is made of c.a. 1600-2000 single elements (preset name, float value). I'm curious how many such programs I can allow in preset manager to not get stuck. It appears, that loading a program or a library made of 20 - takes similar amount of time (but all in test had zero values). Where is the secure limit per library? 50? 100 (c.a.1.5MB text file)? 500? I see that it seems to be better load a library and switch between programs instead of single programs loading.

100 should be fine, 500 can add a few secs to program loading.
