Beginner: 0-1 to Decibels

Postby SBMastering on Mon Jun 25, 2012 9:50 pm

I am trying to convert the 0-1 ratio scale to Decibels (db).

I read this and went through it thoroughly: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=8675&p=60715&hilit=decibels#p60715

I can't get this to work for me. I downloaded many OSMs and tried to modify them to no avail.

Here are the graphics of what I thought would do 20log(x). I'm assuming that means that the 0-1 value is the x. I did a couple of variations with the slider at different places

I am trying to control a couple of VCAs with the slider, a couple of VCAs. Just a simple gain control.

I want to be able to do a label that shows the affect of the slider in dB. The middle of the slider is 0dB.

ALSO: How can I limit a label to a specified number of decimal points? I'd like it to show three numbers to the right of the decimal point. I see that the "Float Label" component rounds to two decimal points.

Would it have something to do with the current bitrate? Do I have to do something that senses the bitrate, since they are different scales?

Conversion from ratio to dB. I have also included the inverse conversion which may actually be more useful for volume control.
Cheers!

Darn, Martin! You beat me to it!

But does yours have the string format in it? ;)
