Motor-Fader emulation - ratio Update Help needed!

Postby sunsynth on Wed Oct 04, 2006 3:18 pm

Hi,

i try 2 emulate a motorized-fader:

rl's Vertikal-Fader (MixerStrip) works but i need a Horizontal One!

If i dynamically change the current value the slider knob moves but the ratio-output only refreshes if i drag the slider-knob with the mouse :-(

The Inside of the CPU-use-Optimized slider is so tricky! so i need help ;-)

@rl: What changes need your silver-slider to be a horizontal-one?

@SM-Dev.: Help 4 the Horinzontal Slider - PLEASE!

Look here:

It was the standard slider of an old version (I guess 0.9.4). Not sure if this version also had a vertical slider. I think you just have to swap the DragY for a DragX and swap x/y in the drawing logic.

For the horizonal slider I think you just have to connect the input value to trigger a redraw (you don't need a ticker25).

I tried this before i started this thread but this dosn't work...
even if i change the bmp to a hor. one it remains vertical :-(

Thanks 4 the tip - this works but... the redraw works already - the RATIO -OUT needs to be autom. updated!!

Look at my pic - the bottom slider is near the middle pos. but ratio-Out remains O (null)... :-(

P.S.: If the silver hor. slider exist in 0.9.4x please give me a .OSM link (Thanks)

There's a little more to it that that. The vertical slider also has to correct for the inverted orientation of the graphic units compared with the standard orientation of the slider. On a horizontal the units increase in the same direction (left to right).

The current horizontal slider (or any control) can be made to respond to remote control by inserting a feed where the CC control unit connects. That has moved around in the last 40 versions or so ;) of SM but the trick works wherever you find it.

All the issues with display and updating have been worked out already for the CC unit.

Hopefully I'm not off-base from what you're asking.
