again: every usb or pci card i used so far worked good.
got one firewire interface and it was nothing but trouble. bizarre digital interference, weird init screw ups, i even finally got one texas instruments chip card (an adventure of its own) and it still was flaky. would never recommend firewire for windows, since usb works just as well and without any problems.

I had a lot of success with KX drivers for running low latency years ago too.
The routing scheme is cool too IIRC

read this:

i got the emu usb one cos i read in reviews that it has the best snr and best sounding dsp of them all, it is stable and reliable, but the volume button doesnt work too well on xp with my laptop, have to go via windows volume controls.

it doesnt need a seperate DC input unless u use the phantom power for the mic.

if you need audio gear, its a good idea to check reviews abnd rankings on zzounds gear.

that said there may be better usb asio than the emu but it is small reliable and uses the best chips according to reviewers.
