Sysex editing opens up one BIG possibility for VSTi creation. Midi editors or better yet, sysex librarians where you can load a patch to your synth from HD, which basicly means unlimited patch storage for your synths.. and ofcourse total recall ! :)
This leaves you with best of both worlds. Total recall of the softsynth world and the better sound from hardware synths. I'm nearly finished with my editor/librarian for the Waldorf MicroQ and am going to do a simple librarian for my NordLead, Novation Nova and perhaps TG77 and JV1080. When i still used a digital mixer sysex handling would've also enabled me to have unlimited space for mixermaps and a better way to archive whole projects. I really dig this feature :)

I think it is essential to be competitive with other types of software programming objects,
more if you were to implement even

SysEx xF0 = = 240
MTC Quarter Frame
Song Position Pointer
Song Select
Tune Request
MIDI Clock
MIDI Tick
MIDI Start
MIDI Stop
MIDI Continue
Active Sense
Reset

I would be a happy man

Hmm,
is it possible now to read out Midi Clock with Sysex in SM???

Forget this Sysex/ Midi clock newbie question... ;)

Midi Clock sends only status F8...! no Data and that's why the splitter gives nothing inc. no trigger :(

we need a splitter that filter Midi-Status-changes!

I've made a Sysex_Load.osm module downloadable here : (web site temporarily discontinued until 2012/01).
You'll need to load SYXtoTXT.exe on the same page.

SYXtoTXT works as a standalone application, or drag-and-drop a sysex file to create a text file, or call it inside SynthMaker (see Sysex_Load.osm).

Website is down (provider's fault) and the files-sharing-site i use is in maintenance update...
I'll make all files available soon with new direct links between 25th-31th december 2011.

Finally, here is the direct link : dead link
Files are a sysex loader osm schematic example for synthmaker calling the SyxToTxt.exe application that must be in the same folder.

The SyxToTxt.exe works three ways : as standalone, called directly within your SM app (see sysex loader osm), or drag and drop one or several syx file(s) to create txt file(s).
