Ha ha, you're not supposed to use it!!!, In a sense.
It's probably the Trigger section that's doing your head in. You press the start btn and it starts playing itself,
so your not sure what to do at that point. So you need to "section" things out.
Suggestion 1: Note that it's NOT designed to be played with a keyboard, like a synth, so don't bother going there.
Suggestion 2: Disable all triggers. Kill the noise osc, kill the delay. Leaves you with a couple of sine waves.
Start from scratch. Begin with the Seq, fiddle with the Osc's. The rest is standard.
Then bring back the triggers, one at a time. Build up your song.
At that point I usually hit the start btn, lay down on my bed, chill out and listen to it.
If you give all the triggers different reset times, the whole song keeps on changing on it's own over time.
But you can also jump in there and tweak things in real time.
Suggestion 3: Give me some suggestions for a better user experience.
Hope this helps.

Updated to 1.5.
Tied up lots of loose ends under the hood. Behavior is a lot more solid now.
Some new knobs, labels and stuff. Also dropped in a Fishtank.

Wow, billv! That is quite impressive! I don't even want to begin to try to figure out what all went into that thing, but it is quite brilliant. What struck me was that despite the fact that this thing teeters on the edge of complete chaos quite often, it never falls off the cliff. I was fully expecting to have to lunge to the volume control or start disabling connectors in case of a all-out, ear-bleeding freak out, but it never happened! Kudos!

I do have one suggestion: make that start button bigger! I'll admit I didn't read all the posts on this thread before downloading and I stared at the screen for several minutes, disappointedly tapped key on my keyboard, and scratched my head wondering what the heck this thing was supposed to do. i was just about to shut it down and forget it when I saw the (relatively) small start button. That should be the focal point of the GUI. Other than that, excellent!

Thanks for having a go and the feedback.
Yeh, It really needs a tutorial. I'm half way through the next update, and hopefully I'll get it done.

This synth is capable to create so many different sounds. Really impressive. Really a great job done.
I have recognized that the cutoff-knob disappears when being modified by the lfos.
But this happens probably only due to my very very slow machine (2x1.2ghz athlon).

Yeh I know, I'm playing it every day, getting lots of suprises.

Yeh, basic error there. Had the same thing yesterday with the Octave knob. The float clippers
not working as they should. Fixed that all up yesterday.
Next update almost ready. maybe today or tommorrow.
Thanks for the feedback.

Has been Updated to 1.6-See original post to download.
In this update:
1. Bugfix- Extra float clippers to stop the dissappearing knob.
-The "Disable all triggers button" was struggling to push 54 knobs at once- I split the output
through 8 delays to smooth it out.(If you think this is wrong-let me know)
- Same goes for the new Preset button.
2. New Features:
1: The Seq wave, now has Sample Modulation as well. Really changes the notes coming out..
2: The X11 now has 2 Sequencers. I added 6 Step Seq(inside the original one). It needed it. Too many
times i wanted a particular set of notes and couldn't get it.
3: A "Big Clock" Display, and a linear one that runs along the timeline.
4: A tutorial. Aimed at not a Pro or Beginner, but rather at the user.
5: 5 Presets for the Trigger's section.(that's just the trigger section-kind of like a template.)
6: A new section called "Tickers". These are just float bouncers for a couple of knobs that were lonley,
and not seeing any of the modulation action. Details in the tutorial.

Note: I've found that it runs HEAPS BETTER as a Standalone than inside SM. So if your CPU is struggling with it,
cut a standalone and watch them fish fly with no effect to the Seq Timing.

I found the tutorial, I even found Fish Tank, but can't find 'start button".
Unfortunately, I won't play it in Ableton any time soon. Exceeded component allowance by 190710 :D.

In general having lots of laught with this one.
Addictive synthesis.

Good to hear you got it up and running.
Warmonger wrote:I won't play it in Ableton any time soon

Eventually I will turn it into a VST Plug in. There were just too many experiments in this synth-and I didn't
want to deal with the Preset manager at the same time.
Warmonger wrote:but can't find 'start button"

You guys are killing me with this start button thing. Ha ha. It's the biggest button on the synth!!

I'm glad to see the insanity firmly intact around here. This really is a beast. I think maybe there should be a few more fish in the tank other then that, Great job!
A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.
