Yep there are many of these apps out now and some sound no different to the synths and samplers we have on our pc's
here are some add-on hardware items for mobile phone musings from Yamaha http://www.tokyomango.com/tokyo_mango/2 ... hones.html

Google's android OS and capable phones have greater scope for more sophisticated music software and no doubt we will see a lot more of this kind of thing - Gimmick atm but then i remember ppl saying that vst instruments and effects were a gimmick soon to pass!

Compile to smart phone malc?

Best Regards

It can still be a bit pricey vs a typical knob/slider controller, & I prefer something more tactile that won't crash (unless knocked over), but instantly switching between scenes & layouts is still sweet for under $800 or so. I'd prefer a cheaper multi-touch Win7 convertable netbook with a real keyboard (for Live triggering & using as a real computer).

Yes, tactile is the operative word here. Music is about sound, kind of 'ear to hand' co-ordination - I look at the fretboard/snare drum/fader etc. as little as possible when playing music; fingers and ears are my main tools- so the idea of having to glue my eyes to a (very tiny) screen just to 'feel' where the controls are leaves me a bit cold.
The best mixing tip I was ever told... get a nice knobby/slidery controller, then turn off the PC screen and just listen. You soon realise how distracting watching the 'music' scroll past your eyes can be.
Feel free to use any schematics and algorithms I post on the forum in your own designs - a credit is appreciated (but not a requirement).

I felt the same when last year I built a set-up based on a hardware sequencer from the nineties. I was able to produce and arrange much better! :)

I prefer something can be 100% customizable and or can be changed by software at any time, durable and flexible.
Fisical knobs, sliders etc etc not provide that...............

I have to leave SM...........
I really stuck due lot of limitations like no multitouch, no transparent fetaure for stand alone exe, no MIDI clock IN OUT, no SDK, no accurate timer etc etc
I no blame to Malc or Jorge, i continue thinking SM is absolutly great tool........ but i decide is time to move.
I really apreciate the help of the comunity in all this years, specially help from Malc, Odsson, Angular, Acrobat, Infuzion, Sunsynth, and for all the comunity.
(sorry if i forgot some name)

Is very SAD have to stop develope, using SM, but i not have more choices after wait wait and wait for features never be a reality under SM.
I repeat this no is a complaint is just my reality.

Goodbye and good luck to everybody!

Sad to see you go, but every workman must have the tools that suit him best - it would be a boring world if we all wanted the same things.

Good luck, do come back some time to tell us about the exciting things you get up to...

I'm seriously considering the same thing; SM simply crashes too much for me to take it seriously. This affects my viewpoint on SM-made VSTs also; I'm too afraid that they'll crash I don't want to ever use any. Unfortunately there are several VSTs that are excellent otherwise.

I guess I need to work on my website/Facebook/IMDB page some now.
