Website & Blog owners. Can I have moment of your time.

Postby Dell on Sun Aug 08, 2010 5:11 pm

Right!

So, my little blog is moving along smoothly despite having no knowledge on the concept of web design. :)

As a sound man, back ups are very common. I would like create a back up blog. Would I have to copy & paste all my work from one blog to another or, is there another means of getting this done?

Also, what Web Browsers have you found to be the most user friendly (fastest response time) when editing your blog/website?

Are Blogs based around the Linux topology as oppose Windows? I've noticed many use < /> instead on [ /]

I have an old computer that I will use primarily for my blog site and, as the main frame for storing all my work. At the moment, it has Windows XP Service Pack 2 installed however, I am willing to upgrade to Service Pack 3 or even migrate to Linux if it will make things easier when editing my blog.

Cheers!

about the backups it depends on what blog you use and where it stores the data.
i dont think there are very big differences with browser render times anymore, it mainly depends on the connection quality to the server how fast things go.

Cheers Michael Benjamin!

I'm using Blog.com

At times, I receive a 503 error so, I would like to create an alternative blog to use when that occurs for those who download my free plug-ins.

i dont know much about these free blog hosters, but the ones i ten to land on quite often is on blogspot, they usually work aswell. a natural progression from this could be your own webspace ~7€ a month where you just could upload wordpress or a similar thing.

That has nothing to do with platforms. Most blog packagaes are made with PHP/Perl/Python/ASP/whatever and run equally well on whatever OS is able to run the language of choice.

As for blogs; I strongly prefer Wordpress hosted on my own server; it just works really well and seems to improve at a rapid pace.

As for browsers; I use Maxthon using IE8's rendering engine at home and Google Chrome at work; thinking of going to Chrome entirely because it's just such a smooth browser. It also has a few nice features especially for web developers.
My current top SynthMaker bug:
    1. MIDI Input issue (showstopper, no workaround)
    2. All my previous bugs in SM1.7, because bug 1 makes SM2 worse than SM1.7

Cheers Michael Benjamin & mvdlee!

I downloaded wordpress months ago however, used blog.com based on having an account there which was doing nothing at the time. I will explore blogspot as well.

I take it, you can use your service provider as a web server similiar to what AOL offered when dial-up was very common to use wordpress?

You probably do need professional hosting, as most ISP's do not offer database support like MySQL. You will need such for Wordpress, Drupal, Joomla et cetera.

If you take the blog hosters lane then read carefully the imprint. E.g. the fine print of blogspot (Google) allows them to do almost everything with your content.

I have been thinking wordpress too. I have my own space with MySQL but this got me thinking.

Does Google have anyhing to do with Wordpress?
The app itself is free to download but does this mean Google pretty much owns everyhing I put in my wordpress blog?
Maybe even my own software I put in it?

Btw. :) CIA was the shady guys that gave the google kids the money to start up in the first place..... or so the rumors say. :9
I try hard NOT to have any google apps on my computers but its a futile fight I guess.
It's never to late to be late.....

I believe it was a week ago, I noticed Google's emblem had transfered to Blogspot.

For those who like Chrome's concept however do not want any google platforms on your machine, try this browser.

There is also Duck Duck Go.
