Here's a very simple text based sequencer, at the moment all notes have the same duration but that's easy to change.

Another option is to have a graphical module where you edit notes that get converted to text data that you can use to play as in the example above. The text would be an intermediate stage which would be useful for debugging and copying and pasting etc.

Sorry Jorge, I wasn't knocking your schematic, just kidding with the idea of using something as advanced as SM to build a text based tracker-like sequencer.

Obviously using the ideas you've posted as a base any thing could be built.

The example jorge posted is the basis of any sequencer, its just lower level, something like fruity loops can already be made if you put the time in and know how, it would probably be very cpu heavy though im guessing.

Yeah, I was a bit worried that with my comment you'd think I didnt get what you meant. I got it and eventhough I'm not a musician I have noticed how some people are sensitive about trackers and others ( probably fewer ) really like them.

Is it possible to trigger the sequencer when you press a key on your midi controller(i.e. note on message) instead of having to click on that little red trigger button thingi?
Also how would one go about syncing the sequencer to the host tempo any ideas?

You can use the Midi Splitter module to trigger on midi keyboard press, this is a R+D module though so make sure you set it in the SM options to be able to see these, hope this helps
