Save cpu usage: switch off unused oscs

Postby Dave on Sat Dec 08, 2007 10:17 pm

Hi,

i've tried to reduce the cpu usage with switching off an single osc in the example.osm:

Inside the selector:

But it seems like that the switcher don't work (sound of osc 2 plays still and cpu usage will not be reduced).

How can i add. add a function which cuts the osc automatically off if the volume of it is "0"?

Thanks,
Dave

Drag the input from the selector to the second (blank) input. This will add a third input (which will be blank). The first input is now a dummy input and will be selected when the boolean is 'false' (integer value is zero).

The above shows the dummy input used with a threshold comparison. So you have a volume knob/off switch combined in one.

Hey Dave, thanks for reminding me that I didn't add an example of this in the WIKI. & thanks to oddson for providing it :)

BTW, it is best to ask questions like this in the Help forum. Not a big deal though.
